Building a Stronger Community

The Community Companions Program is designed to foster connections, whether through shared hobbies, meaningful Dhamma discussions, delightful meals, or the simple joy of spending quality time together. At We Care For You Charity, we recognize the importance of community support, and with our dedicated team of volunteers, we aim to provide friendly visits that bring comfort and companionship to our community.

To join us in building a stronger and more connected community, please register here and our coordinator will reach out to you to finalize the details of the visit. Afterwards, a small group of volunteers led by a We Care For You Team Leader will visit your home to conduct the activity/event requested by you.

One Friendly Visit at a Time

The Community Companions Program offers a range of invaluable benefits aimed at enhancing the well-being and sense of belonging for members in our community. By facilitating regular friendly visits from our dedicated team of volunteers, this program creates a supportive network that goes beyond the surface of social interactions.

Some of the benefits are emotional well-being, social engagement, quality of life improvement, enhanced mental health, inclusion and making meaningful connections; by focusing on these benefits, the Community Companions Program strives to contribute to the overall health and vitality of our community, one friendly visit at a time.

Senior Home Visits - Bingo Nights!

The Senior Home Visits program is a volunteering initiative, part of our Community Companions Program, aimed at bringing joy and fostering a sense of community among seniors through bingo nights.

This year, we held five volunteer visits on July 7th, August 11th, October 13th, November 17th, and December 29th, with seven recurring volunteers. A total of 48 seniors were visited during these events. The bingo games offered a fun, interactive, and engaging activity that fostered a sense of belonging and togetherness. Each session created a friendly atmosphere where seniors could partake in enjoyable competition and enhance their social connections.

With around four volunteers at each event, we were able to connect with the seniors effectively, with two volunteers alternating in calling out numbers while the others assisted participants as needed. This ensured that everyone felt supported and included. These monthly bingo events allowed us to build meaningful relationships with the seniors. Through small yet heartfelt interactions, we created positive, memorable experiences for both the participants and volunteers.

This initiative also helps seniors cope with loneliness while raising awareness among young adults about the challenges faced by older generations, encouraging empathy and care for seniors. It strives to enrich lives and strengthen our community - one friendly visit at a time.
