The Community Companions Program is designed to foster connections, whether through shared hobbies, meaningful Dhamma discussions, delightful meals, or the simple joy of spending quality time together. At We Care For You Charity, we recognize the importance of community support, and with our dedicated team of volunteers, we aim to provide friendly visits that bring comfort and companionship to our community.

The Community Companions Program offers a range of invaluable benefits aimed at enhancing the well-being and sense of belonging for members in our community. By facilitating regular friendly visits from our dedicated team of volunteers, this program creates a supportive network that goes beyond the surface of social interactions.

Cards of Compassion - 2025

As part of our ongoing Community Companions Program, we continued our Cards of Compassion initiative in 2025, bringing together children, youth, and families to share kindness and creativity through handmade cards.

This year, card-making sessions were held on February 1st, February 8th, and June 21st, followed by card distribution on June 28th. Each session took place at Mahamevnawa Asapuwa Toronto, while the distribution event was held at Chartwell Gibson Retirement Home.

The purpose of the initiative was to brighten the day of seniors who may be feeling lonely by sharing thoughtful, handmade cards filled with love and compassion.
During the card-making sessions, approximately 15–20 participants gathered after Dhamma class to create beautiful and meaningful cards for seniors. Using stickers, markers, and their imagination, the children crafted heartfelt messages, fostering a spirit of empathy and generosity.

On June 28th, around 20 volunteers, including both adults and children, visited Chartwell Gibson Retirement Home to personally deliver the cards. Volunteers had the opportunity to interact with residents, sharing smiles and warm conversations. Seeing the residents’ faces light up with joy was the most rewarding part of the day.

This event reminded everyone that even a simple act of kindness, like a handmade card, can make a lasting impact — strengthening our sense of community and compassion.

Cards of Compassion - 2024

In 2024, as part of the Community Companions Program, we organized several Cards of Compassion events with our community.

This initiative brought together kids, youth, and families to create cards with kind messages, which were then distributed at healthcare and senior living centers.

We hosted several workshops where participants gathered to craft these heartfelt messages, fostering creativity, empathy, and community spirit.
